This off-the-beaten-track adventure is all about exploring, discovering and photographing this stunning corner of Africa.
Our trip starts at Victoria Falls - The Smoke That Thunders, before spending three nights afloat Lake Kariba on our private houseboat. With the use of two additional tender boats we are free to explore and photograph many of the islands and inlets that litter this huge body of water.
I know from experience that the co-ordination of such trips is not easy and to get that relaxed approach without totally falling over is an art form. I think the relaxed atmosphere and the banter certainly helped and we felt very much part of the group.
After our adventure in the Zambezi valley we head into the interior of Zimbabwe and one of Africa’s largest and greatest national parks – Hwange, where we stay in a very comfortable safari bush camp. We spend a further three days in our own 4x4s and also on foot, getting into the ideal locations to photograph all manner of wildlife, from lion and elephant, to hippo and crocodile.
Meet your hosts...

James’ past saw him working as a Reuters’ photographer in Africa capturing a range of subjects - but the wildlife always held a fascination for him. James’s keen eye for detail not only means his photographs are made up of great light and composition but he can pick up on tiny behavioural cues from his subjects.
Helping us host this trip is Brenda Mamode. She is an all-in Africa enthusiast with a deep love for her country and continent. Brenda spends her time organising and guiding trips all over Southern Africa. A resident of Gaborone, the capital of Zimbabwe’s great neighbour Botswana, Brenda has all the experience necessary to ensure this Zimbabwean experience is full of knowledge and unforgettable experiences.

Being on foot and only a few feet from the action is something I never expected in my wildest dreams. It did happen didn’t it?
Zimbabwe is, and has always been an incredibly warm and welcoming country for visitors. It is one of Africa's great destinations and a truly wonderful country.
The houseboat was the highlight of the trip for me. I haven’t felt that relaxed in years.
