Photography Online is a monthly YouTube show from the team at Mc2 Photography. We bring you tips from the pros, gossip from the industry, the latest gear reviews, the best locations, and much more. Our channel members (Photography Online Official Supporters - or POOS for short!) also get access to our monthly interactive PO LIVE show.

July 2025 - The Show for Photographers
In this July episode of Photography Online, we show you everything you need to know when considering which tripod to buy. We'll explain the important stuff, as well as the bits you don't need to worry about. We also look at what we believe is the best way to scan medium and large format film at home. Plus the team find themselves in Blackpool as they continue the British Icons Photo Challenge. Topics covered in this show include perspective control, using a reflector, the inverse square law, lighting, tripods and flatbed film scanning.
June 2025 - The Show for Photographers
In this episode of Photography Online, we look at what we reckon is the most useful law in photography - the Inverse Square Law. Once you understand this, you'll have more control than ever over your exposures and photography in general. We then tag along on a property shoot to see what's involved in taking marketing photos for hotels. We'll go over many tips and tricks you can apply at the capture stage, plus we'll talk you through the key post production steps too. The team also continue their Great British Icons photo challenge in York, as they attempt to cross off more icons from their list.
May 2025 - The Show for Photographers
In this episode of Photography Online, we embark on a photo tour of Edinburgh to learn about the best times to visit the "must see" places, as well as to discover a few lesser known options to visit with your camera. The team head out into the country to find a landscape scene which typifies the English countryside, but hit a problem. We then look at how useful reflectors can be for any subject you can get close to. Topics covered in this show include, planning, composition, filter use, tilt shift lenses, bouncing light with reflectors, photography inspirations and influences, black and white, nighttime city photography and much more.
April 2025 - The Show for Photographers
In this episode of Photography Online we do a test to see just how important resolution is, for both screen and print. The results might surprise you as much as they surprised us. The team attempt to photograph a bagpiper wearing tartan in front of a castle, to get 3 British iconic subjects ticked off their challenge list. We then go on a photo walk and shoot a whole roll of film on a camera which has no lightmeter to see if we can judge the exposure of every scene just by using our eyes. How many will be correctly exposed? If you’re a fan of our out-takes, then make sure you watch to the very end!
March 2025 - The Show for Photographers
The Photography Online team have to photograph a steamtrain at precisely 11 o'clock, without knowing where it will be. We test 5 different professional print labs to see how they compare, and we start a 2-part feature on how to accurately judge exposure simply by using your eyes. Topics covered in this episode include various camera skilles such as composition, focal length, exposure, dynamic range, and much more.
February 2025 - The Show for Photographers
In this episode of Photography Online, the team attempt to get a shot of a lighthouse at exactly 9 o'clock and 10 o'clock. We look at the best ways to sell your unused photo equipment, and we take a very large camera out into a very large landscape in very specific conditions. Among the topics covered in this show are shift lenses, painting with light, filters, long exposures, composition, depth of field, exposure, using a light meter, lens movements, and much more.
January 2025 - The Show for Photographers
In the first episode of Season 25 of Photography Online, we launch a new ambitious photo challenge which sees the team herding cattle. We then look at the pros and cons of all the various sensor sizes on the market so you can decide which is best for you. Then we use some coloured filters to see how they can be used to influence the contrast of black and white photos.
