Patagonia needs little introduction, but it’s too exciting not to do it anyway!
Home to the world’s most majestic and photogenic mountains, the peaks of Torres Del Paine National Park and El Chalten (Mount Fitz Roy) will leave you breathless as they catch the first and last light of the day. Throw in a few glaciers, soaring condors, plus a total solar eclipse, and you will hopefully see why this should be the trip of a lifetime. Exploring both Chile and Argentina, this is an action packed trip, full of amazing and diverse photographic potential.
Witnessing a total solar eclipse is one of the most awe inspiring events imaginable. Seeing the wall of darkness from the moon’s shadow come racing towards you at over 1000mph cannot be described in words. Then towards the end of totality, watching the band of daylight rushing back in to illuminate the landscape as the hairs stand up on the back of your neck is an experience you will never forget.
This phenomena provides unique photo opportunities to get the iconic diamond ring shot, or to record the corona of the sun – the only time it is ever visible to the naked eye. We’ll experience just over two minutes of total darkness – long enough to fire away some stunning shots as well as take time to enjoy the moment.
Meet your hosts…
Marcus and James have been working together since 1996. Their combined experience makes them excellent guides, and gives them plenty of amusing stories to tell over dinner. They will have the assistance of Maria, our local organiser and translator.
For the final two days at the eclipse location, we will also be joined by a local photographer familiar with the remote area.
