Glencoe or Fort William
Gateway to the Highlands.
Glencoe is probably the most popular Scottish location visited by photographers. There are not many places that give such easy access to such an untouched wilderness, but Glencoe is at the top of that list. The peaks of the Three Sisters and Buachaille Etive Mor are irresistible for the photographer and, if the cloud is low, there’s Black Rock Cottage and Kilchurn Castle to keep the landscape photographer happy.
“Alex was an excellent teacher, and incredibly patient with all our questions. We learned more in just a couple of hours than in years of reading through magazines and watching videos online.”
The abundance of mountain views, glens and lochs provide ample opportunity for great photos. It’s a great place to stop off on the way to and from Skye, so why not spend some time with our resident team member Alex, who knows the area better than anyone else. He’ll show you the lesser known locations as well as the ones which work best in the conditions you are faced with. A full day can be split into a dawn and dusk session to make the most of the best light.
Meet your host…
Alex has been a landscape photographer for over 10 years. Based in Fort William, his knowledge for the best locations go far wider than our base on the Isle of Skye. “Scotland is one of the iconic landscape destinations for photographers from all over the world, so I feel privileged to be able to live and work here. Out of all the amazing locations, my favourite is Glencoe – an area I probably know better than anyone.”
Alex also works in the outdoor clothing and equipment industry – something which comes in handy when having to work in the ever changing conditions of the Scottish Highlands.
“If you plan on spending a day in the Glencoe area I can’t recommend these guys highly enough.”
“I’ve photographed Glencoe a few times, but Alex showed me some amazing new locations that I didn’t even know existed, he really knows the area.”
“You went above and beyond our expectations to make sure we had a good day of photography.”
